Event Details
Vicki Nakashima is a featured voice in Publishing Prejudice: The Oregonian’s Racist Legacy, an investigative project examining the historical role of media in shaping racial injustice. In her talk, Nakashima reflects on her family’s experience during World War II. Drawing from her father’s firsthand account of incarceration and her own advocacy work, she explores how media narratives minimized the realities of Japanese American imprisonment and why confronting these histories remains essential today. Join us for this powerful presentation and conversation as we examine the impact of the past and its relevance to the present.
This event is presented by the Japanese American Museum of Oregon and is part of our programming for One Book, One Coast.
