Event Details

This special exhibit, presented in collaboration with the Camas Earth Day Society, will explore the origins of Earth Day and the pivotal role played by Camas native Denis Hayes in launching the environmental movement that continues to shape the world today.

Denis Hayes, a key organizer of the first Earth Day in 1970, has been instrumental in advocating for environmental awareness and action. The exhibit will tell the story of how Earth Day began, highlight Hayes’ contributions, and showcase the lasting impact of this global movement. Featuring historical photographs and interpretive displays, Roots of a Movement will connect visitors with the spirit of activism and environmental stewardship that Earth Day represents. Denis Hayes has previewed the exhibition and been supportive throughout the process of developing it.
