Title: Walking with Our Ancestors: Bridging Generations in Chinook Culture

Speaker: Sam Robinson was born in South Bend, Washington, the home of his Ancestors. He is the third great-grandson of Thomas Huckswelt and Cha’isht, a Lower Chinook headsman and a high-status Willapa Chinook woman. Sam has served on the Chinook Indian Nation Tribal Council continuously for over 22 years and served as vice chairman for the past 11 years. He is a member of the Chinook Canoe Family and serves on the Chinook Education Committee and the Natural Resource Committee.

Description: Sam will share with you stories of growing up listening to his Chinook Elders and the stories they shared. He will tell how Chinook people are revising their culture through canoe life ceremonies and how it is important to them that they make their Ancestors proud!
